CaviCide is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registered cleaner and disinfectant. It is used to clean and disinfect inanimate objects, equipment and instrumentation in medical and dental settings. Its active ingredients are isopropyl alcohol and quaternary ammonium chloride. A cleaner/ degreaser is contained within the solution.
As stated on the Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for CaviCide Surface
Disinfectant/ Decontaminant Cleaner, CaviCide’s ingredients are not listed with the Department of Health and Human Services- National Toxicology Program (NTP). CaviCide’s ingredients are not listed on the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Monographs nor they are listed as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulated carcinogens.
Additionally, none of the ingredients in CaviCide are listed on California State’s Proposition 65 list of known chemicals to cause cancer.
Based on this assessment of regulatory agencies governing CaviCide, neither CaviCide nor its components are known carcinogens.
